What are the types of steam turbines?
A steam turbine, also known as a steam turbo engine, is a rotary steam-powered device. High-temperature, high-pressure steam passes through stationary nozzles, where it accelerates into a high-speed airflow and then strikes the blades, causing the rotor—equipped with blade rows—to rotate and simultaneously perform external work. Steam turbines are the primary equipment in modern thermal power plants and are also used in metallurgical, chemical, and marine power plants.
