Main Procedures for Turbine Installation

The main procedures for turbine installation include acceptance of the foundation and equipment, installation of the turbine unit itself, and installation of other systems (including installation of unit accessories and flushing of the oil system). The cleaning of steam pipelines and flushing of the hydraulic oil system consist of three parts.

Turbine installation Main program

The main procedures for turbine installation include acceptance of the foundation and equipment, installation of the turbine unit itself, and installation of other systems (including installation of unit accessories and flushing of the oil system). The steam pipeline cleaning and hydraulic oil system flushing consist of three components.

The main components of turbine installation include the installation of the condenser, the positioning of the cylinder, baseplate, and bearing pedestal, the alignment and positioning of the cylinder, the alignment and positioning of the diaphragms, the positioning of the bearings, the alignment of the rotor, the adjustment of flow clearances, the joining and installation of the upper and lower cylinders, and the connection of the steam piping to the lower part of the cylinder.

Small-scale industry Turbine installation Technical Requirements: The installation of small industrial steam turbines typically involves two different approaches: complete-unit installation and modular installation. The primary tasks involved in the installation of a complete steam turbine include turbine installation, alignment, leveling, and the installation of auxiliary equipment. The key challenges and critical points in the installation of a complete steam turbine are the alignment and adjustment of the coupling between the steam turbine and the driven machinery. For the installation of steam turbines delivered in modular form, it is necessary to first carry out the installation of the turbine body itself. The general procedure for equipment installation is as follows: acceptance of foundations and equipment → base mounting → installation of cylinder blocks and bearing pedestals → installation of bearings and shaft seals → rotor installation → installation of guide vane rings or bulkheads → inspection and adjustment of steam seals and flow clearances → closure of upper and lower cylinder blocks → coupling installation → grouting → installation of thermal insulation for cylinder blocks → installation of gearboxes and rotating gearboxes → adjustment of the control system and safety systems, followed by final adjustments → installation of auxiliary mechanical equipment.

Key development points in condenser installation engineering technology: positioning and connection of the condenser shell. Given the large structural dimensions of condensers, most supports are directly mounted on the condenser foundation. The connection between the condenser and the exhaust port of the low-pressure cylinder should be an intermediate expansion joint capable of accommodating thermal expansion and contraction. Throughout the entire process of connecting the condenser to the cylinder, the turbine’s positioning dimensions must remain unchanged, and no additional stresses should be imposed on the cylinder. Installation of internal equipment and components within the condenser—including the tube sheets, the final-stage low-pressure heaters of the regenerative system, and the tube bundles—should be completed before the low-pressure cylinder is installed. After the low-pressure cylinder is positioned, the tube bundles can then be connected via threaded joints.

Key development points in rotor installation engineering technology: Rotor installation can be divided into the following stages: rotor lifting, rotor measurement, and rotor-cylinder alignment. For rotor lifting, special beams and slings provided by the manufacturer—complete with factory test certificates—must be used; otherwise, a load test (lasting one hour) must be conducted. Rotor measurement should include: measurement of journal roundness and cylindricity, measurement of rotor runout (radial, end-face, and thrust bearing surface roughness), and measurement of rotor levelness.

Key points in the technological development of cylinder cover installation engineering: From the moment the lower cylinder is lifted into position and part of it is secured, to the moment the upper cylinder is placed and its connecting bolts are tightened, the tightening work on the cover should be carried out continuously and without interruption. Turbine installation Before formally installing the cover, the test button should be installed after all internal components have been assembled to check the overall coordination of the cylinder’s various parts.
