What principles should be observed during the operation of a steam turbine?
During the operation of steam turbines, the following principles should be observed: 1. All start-up and shutdown tests conducted after major overhauls, minor repairs, and accident handling must strictly comply with the "Provisional Standards for Regular Maintenance and Inspection of Evaporative Cooling Equipment," with all required measures implemented and passing acceptance inspection; 2. Any practice that fails to meet relevant laws, regulations, or national mandatory standards pertaining to safe production and fire safety shall be deemed a violation, and the contracting unit shall bear full responsibility for such violations...

The turbine rotor consists of high-pressure and low-pressure sections, which not only increases the number of cylinders and bearings in a power-generation steam turbine unit but also raises the equipment costs. Consequently, the turbine foundation becomes larger, leading to higher civil engineering investment costs. As the overall length of the rotor increases, the vibration performance of the power-generation steam turbine unit will be affected when it operates under off-design conditions, thereby compromising the operational reliability of the unit.

A method for manufacturing an integrated power-generation steam turbine unit.
Assembling the steam turbine unit and the power-generation steam turbine unit separately would result in a larger overall assembly volume, a greater number of parts, and higher assembly requirements. Moreover, it would necessitate connecting the rotors via couplings for alignment; even slight deviations could lead to vibrations, preventing the rotors from reaching high speeds and thereby reducing operational efficiency. To address these challenges, technicians have developed an integrated power-generation steam turbine unit. To achieve the aforementioned objectives, this power-generation steam turbine unit employs the following technical solution...

Application of Steam Turbine Generating Units in Power Plants
The turbine control, monitoring, and protection system of a power plant is the system that governs the operation of steam turbine-generator units. Its structure is divided into two main parts: an electrically controlled servo system and a hydraulic system. The hydraulic system itself comprises an oil supply unit and hydraulic actuators. Since the DEH system controls the steam admission to the turbine-generator unit by adjusting the hydraulic actuators, the adjustment process is highly precise. Most of the shortcomings and accidents in the industry stem from substandard oil quality, which can lead to internal leakage in electro-hydraulic converters and jamming of hydraulic actuators.

An Improved Steam Turbine Unit Structure
The steam turbine is a critical piece of equipment in thermal power generation, and its normal operation directly affects the overall operational status of the entire steam turbine unit. When the power-generation steam turbine unit is in a hot state, the turbine’s main shaft expands and shifts axially and radially due to heating, causing the coupling connected to the drive shaft of the main oil pump to twist and deform, eventually leading to damage and severely impacting the turbine’s normal operation. Currently, various connection methods between the turbine’s main shaft and the drive shaft have helped address the issue of short service life in conventional coupling devices.

A steam turbine generator set based on a tower-type solar thermal power plant.
There are many existing methods for improving the thermal efficiency of steam turbine units, including reheat and supplementary combustion—energy-saving and consumption-reducing measures that can significantly enhance the power-generation efficiency of steam turbine units. However, further improvements in unit efficiency still face technical bottlenecks. In light of this, technical experts in this field are dedicated to developing a new type of steam turbine unit specifically designed for tower-type solar thermal power generation, which could once again boost the unit’s efficiency beyond current levels.
