An industrial steam turbine consists of numerous components, each with its own specific function. So, what exactly are the functions of the components in an industrial steam turbine?
1. The industrial-driven steam turbine itself: Typically, either an island-type (two-tier layout) or a monoblock type (single-sided layout) is used. Ultra-high-pressure steam generated by the heating furnace drives the centrifugal impeller to rotate, converting thermal energy into mechanical kinetic energy.
2. Variable-speed system software: When an industrial-driven steam turbine unit is connected to the grid, this software adjusts the opening of the steam valves based on the speed error, thereby regulating the steam flow and enthalpy drop into the steam turbine generator and modifying the power factor of the generating unit. As a result, when the load changes, the steam turbine generator automatically increases or decreases its steam intake, ensuring stable operation at the rated speed (3000 r/min).
3. Emergency Trip Device: The emergency trip device is typically installed on the shaft section of an industrial-driven turbine-generator rotor, where the rotor sits in a front bearing housing. When the turbine-generator speed-control system malfunctions and the rotor speed exceeds 3,300 r/min, the emergency trip device activates, closing the main steam valve to prevent damage to the industrial-driven turbine.
4. Oil System Software: The oil system software is divided into two main components: the lubricating grease system and the adjustment (maintenance) oil system. It provides lubricating grease for the rolling bearings of various parts of the steam turbine generator and generating unit, as well as lubricating oil for the gear transmission system. Its functions are as follows:
a. The oil supplied to each rolling bearing in the generator set facilitates lubrication and cooling of the rolling bearings.
b. Provide adjustment system software and ensure that the equipment is supplied with a stable and sufficient working pressure oil, enabling them to operate normally.
c. Supply lubricating oil for all transmission mechanisms.
