Application of Steam Turbine Generating Units in Power Plants
The steam turbine generator set is a medium- to large-scale power-generation device used in power plants. It primarily supplies main steam and reheat steam within the power plant and also delivers electrical power to the generator. The generator set consists of two major components: the steam turbine and the generator. During operation, both components generate large amounts of steam. After undergoing heat exchange, this steam becomes superheated steam. As the steam's pressure and temperature rise, it then enters the steam turbine to generate electricity.
Power generation steam turbine unit In a power plant, this is a medium-to-large-scale power-generation equipment primarily used for generating main steam and reheat steam within the power plant, as well as for delivering electrical power to the generator. The power generation unit mainly consists of two major components: the steam turbine and the generator. During operation, both components generate large amounts of steam. After undergoing heat exchange, the steam becomes superheated steam. As the steam's pressure and temperature rise, it then enters the steam turbine to generate electricity. The operating principle of the steam turbine-generator unit is to convert the thermal energy of the steam into mechanical energy, which is transmitted to the generator’s cylinder, causing the generator’s rotor to rotate and produce electrical energy. The overall power-generation efficiency of the steam turbine-generator unit is composed of two main factors: the efficiency of the steam turbine itself and the power output of the generator unit.

The application of power-generation steam turbine units is becoming increasingly widespread, and the demand in industry is rising accordingly. However, as the environment changes, various forms of pollution and human-induced factors are also intensifying, posing more and more challenges to the operation of power plants. Therefore, it is essential to ensure... Power generation steam turbine unit To ensure stable operation and high efficiency, it is essential to properly address the operational challenges faced by power-generation steam turbine units. In power plants, steam turbines typically operate in environments characterized by high temperatures and high humidity; therefore, it is necessary to adopt appropriate cooling methods to reduce both the temperature and humidity levels within the generating units. In the selection of cooling methods for steam turbines, two distinct approaches are commonly employed: air-cooling and direct-air cooling.
The air-cooling method used in steam turbine generator units leverages the suction effect of fans to cool the ambient air drawn into the unit, transforming it into cold air. This cooled air is then directed into cooling towers, where it helps to cool the main steam valve and the regulating steam valve, thereby reducing the temperature of the steam turbine. As a result, the main steam valve closes, significantly decreasing the turbine's power consumption. Since this cooling method relies on air cooling, the cooling tower must be located on the ground, which not only helps to save on construction costs but also makes maintenance and repair of the cooling tower much more convenient.
Power turbine Group The air-cooling method involves connecting the turbine’s cylinder to a cooling fan, thereby optimizing heat exchange between the cylinder and the hot well fan and maximizing turbine efficiency. A key feature of this method is that there is no hot well in the cooling water system; instead, the flow of hot water and cooling water is facilitated by the circulation within the hot well itself.
